A Simple Charged Three-Body Problem

چکیده
Dedicated to Paul Blanchard on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. Abstract: The dynamics of a simple model of three charged bodies interacting under an inverse square electrostatic force is presented. The model may be viewed as an alternative to the pendulum, the standard model of a periodically forced and damped nonlinear oscillator.

Preliminary layout design of buildings has a substantial effect on the ultimate design of structural components and accordingly influences the construction cost. Exploring structurally efficient forms and shapes during the conceptual design stage of a project can also facilitate the optimum integrated design of buildings. This paper presents an automated method of determining column layout desi...
متن کامل- dimensional charged - exciton complexes ” by Varga , K – Reply
We respond to criticisms raised by K. Varga (cond-mat/9802262) and reaffirm that the results in our original paper obtained using a two-body analytical method remains valid within the framework of an effective excitonic composite model. The conceptual model of the excitonic systems as well as the numerical method based on variational functions utilized by Varga differ significantly from ours. H...
متن کاملF eb 2 00 4 Nonlinear , Band - structure , and Surface Effects in the Interaction of Charged Particles with Solids
A survey is presented of various aspects of the interaction of charged particles with solids. In the framework of many-body perturbation theory, we study the nonlinear interaction of charged particles with a free gas of interacting electrons; in particular, nonlinear corrections to the stopping power are analyzed, and special emphasis is made on the separate contributions that are originated in...
متن کاملA solvable model for excitonic complexes in one dimension
It is known experimentally that stable few-body clusters containing negatively-charged electrons (e) and positively-charged holes (h) can exist in low-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures. In addition to the familiar exciton (e+h), three-body ‘charged excitons’ (2e+h and 2h+e) have also been observed. Much less is known about the properties of such charged excitons since three-body problems...
متن کاملSolving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles
A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. The scaled problem has zero boundary conditions at infinity ...
